A session of legal training was held on July 23, 2017 by ASHA for its advocates, with participating lawyers specializing in Family Law and Immigration. The meeting was held for the benefit of advocates who work with our clients.
With the ever changing immigration laws, Atty. Dawn Sequiera took several questions and provided clarification regarding the different visas available to women who are victims of domestic violence. Attys. Asim Humayun and Mohammed spoke at length on Protective Order implications. They shared their insight on the forms for a Protective order and guidelines when doing an intake. They also provided strategies when applying for child support, alimony and child custody.
This was part of the ongoing training for client advocates to ensure that they understand, interpret and guide clients to the right resources.
